About Dr. Lewis
Steven P. Lewis, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery. He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, with a special focus on operative shoulder care—including outpatient shoulder replacement—and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and activity level.
Dr. Lewis has particular expertise in reverse shoulder replacement, total shoulder replacement, and revision shoulder replacement, as well as arthroscopic procedures such as rotator cuff repair and treatment for shoulder instability, impingement, and biceps pathology. He also treats elbow tendon injuries, performs knee arthroscopy, and cares for fractures of the upper and lower extremities. In addition to surgical care, Dr. Lewis offers non-operative treatment for many common orthopaedic concerns, including arthritis, sprains and strains, fractures, and hyaluronic acid joint injections.
Dr. Lewis earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Michigan State University/Corewell Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by a dedicated shoulder and elbow fellowship at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society and has contributed to peer-reviewed research in shoulder arthroplasty and sports medicine.
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dr. Lewis practiced in Michigan prior to joining South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, where he brings a strong emphasis on shoulder conditions and patient-centered care. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, golfing, and staying active through exercise.
