James D. Hoffman, MD

James Hoffman, MD, FAAOS, is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Partner of South Florida Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. Hoffman earned his Medical Degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopedic Surgical Residency and Surgical Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr Hoffman specializes in comprehensive non-operative and operative musculoskeletal care for both adults and adolescents.

With advanced training in sports medicine, joint preservation, and joint replacement surgery, he provides personalized treatment plans designed to help patients return to the activities they enjoy as quickly and safely as possible. His areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, fractures, sprains and strains, tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, and pediatric sports injuries and trauma. Dr. Hoffman also has extensive experience utilizing biologic therapies for the treatment of injuries and arthritis, helping patients explore innovative options to relieve pain and improve function.

In addition to sports medicine, Dr. Hoffman specializes in advanced joint replacement procedures, including total knee replacement, robotic-assisted joint surgery, and total hip replacement. He has a particular interest and extensive experience in tissue-sparing, direct anterior approach total hip replacement, a minimally invasive technique that may promote faster recovery and improved mobility for appropriate candidates.
